OccupyWallSt is the official site of Occupy Wall Street. It has a lot of information including a list of actions, explanations about various facets of OWS, a live stream link and a survey. Combined with the NYC General Assembly, it is the closest you can get to the heart of the uprising without physically participating. But it is certainly no replacement for the real deal. It’s an interesting and informative site with links to assist people to find the Occupy Movement closest to where you are, has the all the Official Statements made by consensus, and announcements about upcoming actions. Color Of Change has a large membership which it has used to advantage with several petition, email, and phone calling campaigns for progressive causes. It was very instrumental in getting Glenn Beck off the television airwaves and has ramped up the the push to deny the hateful Rush Limbaugh advertisers, to great affect. The Color of Change generally takes on the issues that affect people of color. Their latest project is to encourage corporations to stop supporting the nefarious American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC has been the impetus behind numerous nasty bills, e.g., the voter ID laws that will disproportionately disenfranchise minorities, the poor, young voters, and the elderly. The Plutocracy Files is one of the up-and-coming political blogs that includes posts, interviews with interesting people, videos as well as links to stand-out articles. The focus of late has been primarily the Occupy movement, made unique by Taryn Hart’s choices of what to include. However, she is well versed in economics and has had numerous exclusive interviews with some luminaries in this field. Taryn knows enough to ask the right questions. October 2011 is coordinating what promises to be a big deal. On the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan (October 6, 2001) people will be occupying Freedom Plaza in Washington D.C. Even if you supported the invasion initially, it has simply gone on too long. The goal was to destroy the al Qaeda. Osama bin Ladin is dead. Enough already. Bring the troops home. Demand Progress is an organization that works for progressive causes. Toward this end it lobbies, gathers online petition signatures and promotes progressive candidates.

U.S. Uncut is the American version of an organization started in England to protest corporations paying less than their fair share of taxes. Corporations using foreign tax havens, loopholes and sometimes just refusing to pay accounts for billions of lost revenues.
